About Marijuana Software
How many customers do you have, and how long have you been in business?
Marijuana Software has been in business since 2016. More than 200 shops coast to coast use our software, with a strong presence in Oregon and Oklahoma. We are also expanding in markets such as Washington, D.C. and Minnesota.
What are your hardware requirements?
Marijuana Software is SaaS-based and hardware agnostic, which means you can use many existing devices, including Windows computers, Macs, tablets, and iPads.
At minimum, most retailers will need:
- Computer, tablet, or iPad
- Cash drawer
- Scale
- Label printer and receipt printer
We generally support and recommend Star Micronics hardware, and we integrate with Star Micronics Bluetooth scales. We also recommend adding a barcode scanner and tablet stand for smoother checkout workflows. Hardware packages are available through our website.
Do you require a contract?
No. Marijuana Software is month-to-month with no long-term contracts, and you can cancel at any time.
Do you support multiple locations?
Yes. Marijuana Software supports multi-location businesses.
Do you support both medical and recreational sales?
Yes. Marijuana Software supports both medical and recreational sales and customers.
Do you support delivery?
Yes. Marijuana Software supports delivery workflows.
Does your system support farms, processors, and wholesalers?
Yes. We provide METRC-connected and stand-alone tools for farms, processors, and wholesalers.
Getting Started
What are your plans and pricing?
Our Standard Plan starts at $35 per month and increases based on the number of items sold.
Pricing is usage-based, similar to a utility bill: the more you use the system, the more the monthly fee increases. The average customer pays approximately $100-$150 per month.
We also offer:
- Private Cloud: $500/month and $250/month for each additional location
- Hybrid On-Premises + Private Cloud (Backup Server add-on): $5000 one-time setup fee + Private Cloud monthly service at $500/month and $250/month for each additional location
Do you offer a trial period?
No. We do not offer trial periods. When you sign up, you are billed the monthly $35 minimum fee until you begin actively using Marijuana Software. Once you begin selling through the system, billing increases based on the number of items sold.
What does the onboarding process look like?
After you sign up and pay your first invoice, you will receive access to your Marijuana Software account. From there, onboarding is simple:
- Connect your account to METRC by entering your license and API key information
- Import your METRC packages with one click
- Set up your hardware
- Ask us about customer data migration and associated fees, if needed
- Start using the system right away
Do you provide data migration?
Yes. We can assist with data migration, including customer, product, and vendor information, for a small fee.

Integrations
Do you integrate directly with METRC?
Yes. Marijuana Software integrates directly with METRC. You can:
- Import products from METRC
- Upload and report sales to METRC automatically after each sale or manually at end of day
- Use one-click METRC reporting tools
- Generate new tag numbers from METRC
Do you integrate with payment processors?
Yes. We integrate with several payment processors, including:
- GreenCard
- Green.Money
- CanPay
- PayRio
Payment processing can also be added to online ordering when available.
Do you integrate with other cannabis industry platforms?
Yes. Marijuana Software integrates with several cannabis industry platforms, including:
- Leafly
- Weedmaps
- iHeartJane
- Headset.io
- Springbig Marketing
Do you offer marketing features?
Yes. We integrate with Blackleaf.io for text message marketing. Blackleaf pricing is:
- One-time $100 setup fee
- $0.05 per text message
Do you have a loyalty program?
Yes. Marijuana Software includes loyalty features. You can configure:
- Points earned
- Dollar value of points
- Customer rewards
- Loyalty redemption rules
Do you support online ordering?
Yes. We offer online ordering options, including:
- A free website with optional integrated payment
- A plug-in menu for your existing website
- Custom website build options
- Upgrades to custom website templates
- Online payments through one of our integrated payment processing partners on the Grow With You plan
Online orders are billed at $1 per online order on your next invoice.
Do you have an open API?
Yes. We welcome developers and third-party integrations that improve the software and expand available features.
Functions & Features
Are there fees or limits to customers, employees, or products?
No. Marijuana Software supports, for no additional fee:
- Unlimited customers
- Unlimited employees
- Unlimited products
You can also sell non-marijuana products through the system.
Do employees have separate permissions?
Yes. Each employee can have their own permissions and a personal PIN to access the system.
Do you have a lobby feature?
Yes. Marijuana Software includes a lobby feature. You can also scan a customer's ID to create a customer profile or add the customer to the lobby.
How do I complete sales?
Sales are simple to complete in the POS. You can add products to a sale by:
- Scanning a barcode
- Searching or typing in the product
- Selecting items from a menu
Do you offer reports?
Yes. Marijuana Software includes many reporting tools, including:
- Sales reports
- Employee reports
- Tax reports
- Inventory reports
- Reconciliation reports
- Additional operational reports
Can I set up discounts?
Yes. You can set up discounts, including happy hour discounts and other promotional settings.
Can I upload product pictures?
Yes. You can upload product pictures into the system.
Customer Support
What are your customer support hours?
Phone support is available Monday through Thursday from 6AM to 5PM PST, and Fridays from 10AM to 5PM PST, with some weekend coverage as needed.

Do you accept feature requests?
